Singles Awareness Day Party Ideas

Back in 2021, a high school student named Dustin Barnes reached out to his friends and offered to create and host a party where they come together to celebrate being single.

This idea, Singles Awareness Day, then spread like wildfire and has become the unofficial holiday that we know today!

Every year on February 15, the day after Valentine’s Day, single people across the country post on their social media and text their friends a Happy Singles Awareness Day! A day for single people to take center stage after the mushy couples in the world have come and gone with their VDay dinners, dates, and celebrations.

It’s a time where chocolate and flowers are on heavy discount, and ready to be purchased for yourself and not for someone else.

And honestly, go for it!

I have always thought that Single’s Awareness Day was a fun and harmless idea, whether I’ve been single or otherwise. Why not have a fun day to celebrate all things “you”!?

And with that said, why not go a step further?! That’s right, I’m here today to show you how you can pull a Dustin Barnes and shape your own party for the event. To make being what society calls lonely, just a bit less so.

Singles Awareness Day Party Ideas

Lean In To The Chaotic Fun!

Let’s start with the decor! How can you take all of the valentine’s day decorations at your local drug store and turn them on their head?

Break in half that giant heart decorative piece!

Send your invites for the party using Valentine’s Day cards that have been torn up and reused!

Crush up those candy hearts that people only say they like in the month of February and use them as party favors.

Give out only wilted or torn up roses!

Subverting the decor is simply (and very effectively) echoing the reason the holiday was created in the first place. So without a doubt, go for it!

Invite Your Friends!

If there was any time that it was worth it to have your friends over, now is the time! Singles Awareness Day also looks at the value of having friends and not needing a partner to still enjoy all of the beauty of life, and what it means to be human!

Pick A Rom-Com And Roast It!

One of the biggest industries out there that really digs into all that is Valentine’s Day is the Rom-Com™️. And it’s time that the Rom-Com gets its due!

Have friends over and play a Romantic Comedy that you all can really roast. Make it a drinking game if you want. Throw silly (light and nothing heavy) things at the screen when the couple is in love. Get your “Booooo!”s on during the most romantic moments!

Eat ALL of the Chocolate!

You certainly don’t have to tell me twice! One of the best parts about February 15th is all of the chocolate on sale! So set your alarm the day after and grab everything you need for the perfect post-valentine’s spread!
